Senior Controls Engineer / Project Manager – St. Louis Metro Area

Process Controls Solutions is a value-added distributor and application specialist of process equipment and control products. Additionally, we provide systems integration services and specialize in the design, build, and startup of process and industrial control systems.

We have an immediate opening for a Senior Controls Engineer / Project Manager in our systems group. This position requires a passionate individual who demonstrates initiative, ownership, and creative problem-solving skills and patience to evaluate and troubleshoot control system performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and Integration of control system components
  • Electrical Power Systems and I/O Schematics
  • Programmable controller and human machine interface programming
  • Control panel design and layout
  • Instrumentation selection and specification
  • Control valve selection and specification
  • Assist in development of P&ID’s
  • Process and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Project Management experience
  • Manage industrial client and supplier relationships
  • Quoting and estimating project materials, labor and scope changes
  • Negotiate client contracts and secure purchase orders on projects
  • ACAD experience a plus
  • Specify and procure panel components
  • Create and execute test plans for integration testing, FAT testing, validation testing, etc.
  • Perform or work with 3rdParty to handle on-site installation, commissioning and validation
  • Project communications including documenting meeting with clients, vendors, detailed trip reports and project time reporting
  • Other engineering, project and technical tasks as required

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • BS Electrical Engineering degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience in system design and/or manufacturing environment
  • Project Management experience required
  • Programming experience required
  • Designing control systems and strategies
  • Estimating experience
  • Data acquisition experience
  • Process control experience

 Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of PLC Programming, Allen Bradley, Wonderware, GE, Siemens, HMI Programming, along with InTouch/and or Historian
  • Motion control experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, questioning and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Strong work ethic, ability to learn hands-on, attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and work cross-functionally
  • Ability to perform various roles and responsibilities from day to day. Including, but not limited to programming, project management, design, client interaction, etc.
  • Ability to properly balance cost, schedule and quality of the delivered project
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously with varying scope and effectively prioritize workload to ensure deliverables are met
  • Capable of making complex decisions that drive business performance
  • Robot programming knowledge a plus
